DIY Mason Jar Lid Pumpkin

Hello friends!

A few weeks earlier I purchased this adorable pumpkin made out of Mason Jar lids and I was bound to figure out how to make it myself! It turns out it is much easier then I expected.

Supplies:

20 Wide Mouth Mason Jar bands

Orange yarn

Cinnamon sticks (about 4 inches long would work best)

1 can of spray paint whatever color you want your pumpkin to be

Instructions:

Take the seal part of the lid out of the bands.

DSC_0231Spray paint your bands to the desired color or shading you would like. I wanted more of a rustic feel to mine so I was not particular about how I sprayed mine. Before you continue make sure that your lids are completely dry. I allowed mine to dry overnight just to be sure.

After all of your lids are completely dry, it is time to thread them together. As you thread them on the string/yarn make sure that they are all facing the same direction. This will make sure that it fans out nicely at the end. When you have them all on tie the string and make sure it is very tight to ensure the pumpkin will keep its shape.

Once you have the string secured, trim the excess so that it won’t show. Fan the bands out, or more so separate them out, until you have your desired look. Begin sticking the cinnamon sticks in the center to take up the space. The cinnamon sticks will hold themselves in but feel free to hot glue them if you want to be sure!

You are finished! I absolutely love these little pumpkins! They are so different then your average pumpkin decor. You can take some sandpaper to yours if you want an authentic rustic look.

Until next time,

Vests-Leopard-Fall Colors #OOTD

Hello friends!

I have really been loving incorporating the fall colors into my wardrobe! My favorite colors this year seem to be dark wine colors and olive green. I always seem to have a few colors that I stick to for the season. Anyone else with me? I am very fortunate to live in a city where we can have true fall weather to be able to enjoy the season and Pumpkin Spice Latès…

I just got these pants and i’m obsessed with them! I love wearing a bold pant or top and then just keeping everything else simple. It’s my go to way of styling and putting together an outfit. Find your focal point and work around it!

I am enjoying this beautiful Autumn season that is upon us here in Midwest. I know that it will soon be the cold winter that we all know! But hey, that means breaking out the LL Bean boots which i’m not complaining about.

Weekend Exploring: Being a Tourist in Your Own City

Hello friends!

As the beautiful fall days filled with sunshine and changing leaves are beginning to be numbered, the beau and I decided to go on an adventure into the city we have called home for almost 4 years now. With one site in my mind for this adventure we headed to the Fenelon Place Elevator where we were greeted by a view over looking the entire town and on to Wisconsin and Illinois.

After we had enjoyed the view from the different sides of the deck we decided to make our descent on the elevator into downtown. I had been here once before on a camping trip with my grandparents, which I am very grateful for otherwise I may have been a bit nervous about the safety of this.

When we reached the bottom of the elevator we began our adventure into downtown! The first stop on any trip with me is coffee. Off to the small coffee shop right down the street we went. A very nice quaint little shop. I had heard many people talking about a shop downtown for many years and I just never have had the opportunity to go so once I got my coffee we were on to the next! It is called the Calico Bean Market and it is basically a bakers dream. There is a wall of sprinkles with every color you could possibly want, homemade peanut butters, coffee grounds, and many other little treats and snacks. I was very happy I finally had the chance to stop in and I will definitely be back come Christmas baking season. Yes that’s a season for me. We enjoyed the rest of our time downtown exploring and walking the streets. Once we decided to head back up on the elevator we had get in one of the cars and ring the bell, which the beaux was really excited to do, and back up we went! All 296 ft up!
